Male genital hair removal is necessary from hygiene point of view, apart from personal reasons. Although, removing genital hair is not as common as it is in men, still, there is growing awareness about hygiene and cleanliness.

There are various methods available for male genital hair removal. Let us take a quick look at some of the methods:

Shaving

Shaving: This is the most commonly used method of hair removal. You can use traditional razor or an electric shaver. However, since you are shaving on a sensitive area, you need to be careful while removing the hair, so that you don’t get hurt. First of all, long hair should be cut with a pair of scissors, so that you have ease in removing hair from difficult area.

Wet the area with warm water before using the hair shaving cream, to make the hair soft and easy to remove.

Apply shaving cream or gel in the area and allow it to soak for 2 minutes.

If you are using a disposable razor, take a fresh razor for shaving. If you are using electric razor, wipe it with a mild cleanser and wipe it dry completely, before using it.

Use an antiseptic lotion in case you have got minor cuts while shaving. You may have to repeat the procedure every week, as shaving removes the hair only from the skin and not from the roots.

Waxing

Waxing: Just as women do waxing, the male genitals too can be waxed. Waxing until recently, was not very popular with men because of the practical difficulties. Most men would not prefer to get their genitals waxed by professionals and doing it at home would be cumbersome. However, this is an effective means of male genital hair removal, as the hair is removed from the roots and may not reappear for a few weeks.

The trend of Brazilian wax and bikini wax is slowly gaining popularity with men, as shaving does not offer smoother finish and has to be done repeatedly. You will need to go to a salon for getting either of the waxing done.

Laser Hair Removal

Laser Hair Removal: In the laser therapy, the pigment present in the hair follicle is targeted and each pigment is destroyed completely.

This therapy permanently stops the hair growth. Laser therapy is costly, but not painful. You may have to undergo many sessions for hair removal.

Thus, there are many techniques for male genital hair removal. Since individual preference is different, one has to decide for oneself as to the method best suited to them.
